چکیده

The objective of this study was to investigate associations between indoor air quality (IAQ) in K-12 classrooms and student academic performance. During the years 2015–2017, various IAQ factors 220 US were measured seasonally, excluding summer. Measurements taken during occupied unoccupied times several within each school. Occupied measurements included carbon dioxide (CO2) formaldehyde concentrations, fine coarse particle counts. Unoccupied consisted ozone (O3), monoxide (CO), nitrogen (NO2), total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs) concentrations. Ventilation rates estimated using CO2 In addition data, classroom aggregated achievement scores demographic information collected from participating school districts. Demographic data percentage free reduced lunch recipients (PFRL), high-performance students (PGIF), special education (PSPED). A multivariate linear regression analysis used as controls. results revealed ventilation system type, rates, counts, O3 CO This research provides valuable districts design engineers, enabling them environments for improved

Creating effective ITV classrooms - factors that affect student learning

This article provides a review of past research on K-12 interactive television (ITV) programs in the United States. While the number of web-based distance learning courses is increasing, ITV is still widely used for K-12 learners. ITV allows students to communicate with remote teachers and classmates in real time and to create a learning environment that is similar to face-to-face instruction. ...

Personal and Social-Contextual Factors in K–12 Academic Performance: An Integrative Perspective on Student Learning

Our extensive literature review in the fields of educational, social, and cognitive psychology has led us to identify about a dozen variables that demonstrate direct empirical links to academic achievement at the K–12 level. Those variables are grouped into four major categories: student engagement, learning strategies, school climate, and social-familial influences. We then categorize the firs...

Indoor Air Quality in Naturally Ventilated Italian Classrooms

Characterization of indoor air quality in school classrooms is crucial to children’s health and performance. The present study was undertaken to characterize the indoor air quality in six naturally ventilated classrooms of three schools in Cassino (Italy). Indoor particle number, mass, black carbon, CO2 and radon concentrations, as well as outdoor particle number were measured within school hou...

Determining indoor air quality and identifying the origin of odour episodes in indoor environments.

A methodology for identifying volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and determining air quality of indoor air has been developed. The air samples are collected using pump samplers by the inhabitants when they perceive odorous and/or discomfort episodes. Glass multi-sorbent tubes are connected to the pump samplers for the retention of VOC. The analysis is performed by automatic thermal desorption (A...
